Jojo the Brave

It’s easy to forget sometimes that Jojo has come a long way in the past year.  Just around this time, he was rescued from San Francisco Animal Control by Pomeranian Rescue.  According to his fantastic foster Megan (who gave him so much love in his transition period), he was going to be put to sleep because he stood at the back of his cage, drooling and terrified and unwilling to meet any prospective new owners.

Today, he is tenacious little guy.  Yes, he’s still often anxious.  Strange objects can scare him, and he can get pretty wound up around unfamiliar dogs.  But he always seems to try extra hard at everything he does.  He always wants to please, even though he doesn’t always know exactly how to do it.

I am hoping he learns to relax as the years progress.  It can’t be easy living from moment to moment when so many things seems scary and unpredictable.  But even if he doesn’t ever fully relax, he has still come such a long way.  Yay for Jojo, and yay for Pomeranian Rescue and yay for Megan for bringing him out of his shell!!!

Food for the soul, I tell you… Your posts and pictures nourish my sometimes weak spirit… Simba, who has been with us for six months, got adopted last weekend. Again we go through withdrawal, sadness. I know he’s where he will be loved and cherished the rest of his life, but still… It hurts like the dickens to love them so very much and then part with them. But I can’t keep ’em all, now can I? Then there’d be an Animal Cops show with the SPCA showing up to bust a hoarder in Mill Valley!

Jojo looks AMAZING! Did he just have a bath before that picture? Yes, he certainly has come a loooong way. And so much of that way has been because of you guys and all the work you do with him/them. He’s such a precious spirit. One of these days I’m going to surprise us all and get up to see you all. Until then, kiss the little buggar for me, would you? And tell him how very much we love and miss him.

This photo was from a week or two ago…his hair might look better because it’s grown out some (I gave him a horrifying haircut a couple of months ago, egads.)

It would be great to see you!!! Congrats on Simba, he sounded like quite the character! I am 100% certain he could not have had better foster care than you provided him.
